Meryem Chami has been promoted CEO of AXA Africa, replacing Hassan El-Shabrawishi who was appointed CEO of AXA International Markets (Latin America, Africa, Turkey, Middle East and South-East Asia).

Since her arrival at AXA Assurance Maroc in March 2020 as General Manager for Morocco and the CIMA region, Meryem Chami, the first woman to hold this position and the first Moroccan General Manager, has orchestrated a transformation of the company focused on growth. sustainable and customer-centric.

This promotion confirms AXA’s ambition for the African continent and its commitment to invest in markets with strong growth potential.

With 23 years of experience in management, P&L management, transformation, IT and digital, Meryem Chami has held various positions in various sectors such as banking, insurance, mining, automotive, aeronautics and bed.

She also has 10 years of experience as a leader in high responsibility positions, driving complex transformation programs within renowned organizations such as Devoteam, Attijariwafa bank, OCP Group, Altran and AXA Assurance Maroc.

The first woman to lead the company, Meryem Chami has put in place a development strategy based on strategic growth for the structure’s activities. His appointment as head of AXA Africa demonstrates the group’s desire to invest in markets with strong growth potential
